Snoring is the cause of all kinds of diseases

Snoring occurs when your airways narrow during sleep, disrupting airflow. Some people who snore stop breathing. This is called "sleep apnea syndrome (SAS)," and as SAS progresses, the risk of various diseases such as the following increases.

  • Atrial fibrillation: The heartbeat is irregular and palpitations occur.Cardiogenic cerebral infarction This may cause

There are two types of tests used to diagnose sleep apnea syndrome (SAS): simple PSG (simple polysomnography) and full PSG (full polysomnography). The characteristics and differences of each are summarized below.

Full PSG may be recommended as an additional test to simple PSG. Normally, the test is performed in the hospital, but at our clinic, if certain conditions are met, such as receiving support from the family, the test can be performed on an outpatient basis.
Since it is a sleep test, there is no need to worry about ``different pillows'' and the test can be performed in your own sleep environment. There is also the economic advantage of not having to pay for hospitalization. The disadvantage of home testing is that it is difficult to use the test equipment by yourself, and you will need support from your family.

Summary

Sleep testing (simple PSG and full PSG) allows you to understand the frequency of apnea and hypopnea, and decreases in oxygen concentration. This will help determine the severity and select the appropriate treatment. As it is said that ``snoring is the root cause of all kinds of illnesses,'' it is recommended that you get tested if you have clinical symptoms (daytime sleepiness, fatigue, drowsy driving, etc.).
