Yuuai Medical Center visited Dr. Akihiko Yamauchi, a cardiac surgery department. Yuuai Medical Center Heart Surgery is engaged in robotic surgery for valvular heart disease. Conventional surgery for valvular heart disease involves a median sternotomy, which requires a three-month sternal rest period called sternal protection, and patients may have to wait to drive or work. We have heard from patients that with robotic surgery, there is no sternum protection period, so there is less impact on social life, and the incision is very small, so there is less pain. We believe that this will be an important option for patients who regularly visit our clinic for valvular heart disease.
Our clinic is a registered physician of Nakagami Hospital, Okinawa Prefectural Chubu Hospital, and Yuuai Medical Center. We plan to continue collaborating with numerous higher-level medical institutions in order to function as a hub clinic for cardiac treatment in Okinawa Prefecture.
