Simple Exercise While You Wait — No Special Clothing Needed

At the outpatient clinic, I tell patients with diabetes and chronic heart failure, who were obese children when they were in elementary school, ``Let's exercise, let's go for a walk,'' but some of them just can't get enough exercise. I was an obese child when I was in elementary school.

I talk to patients with diabetes and chronic heart failure in the outpatient clinic, saying, ``Let's exercise, let's go for a walk,'' but there are some who simply cannot exercise. Actually, I understand how painful it feels. Nowadays, whenever I have free time, I go jogging or go to the gym, but when I was in elementary school, I was an obese child (Figure 1).

I was an obese child and hated sports days.

I joined the judo club in junior high school, successfully lost weight, and enjoy jogging, running marathons, weight training, and surfing.
When I was in elementary school, it took me over 12 seconds to run 50 meters, and I wasn't able to run backwards until I was in the first year of junior high school. Before I knew it, I started feeling embarrassed about exercising, which made it even harder to exercise.

Anyone can exercise easily, no matter what they wear.

When I was studying abroad in California, USA, I saw elderly people enjoying walking in parks and beaches, and working out at the gym from early morning (around 5 a.m.). Everyone was casually exercising in their own clothing. Some of them were jogging in what looked like swimsuits, and some were running shirtless on the beach. Some people were pedaling on upright bikes, singing loudly to the music. Speaking of cultural differences, it would be nice if anyone could exercise freely, no matter what they wear. I think so.

Exercise while waiting at the hospital

At a hospital outpatient clinic, there is always a waiting time before testing, consultation, and accounting.

If you're waiting, give it a try.

Anyone can easily participate. Any attire is welcome. Even if you are not good at exercising or have never done it before, or are not wearing sports clothes or shoes, we hope to give you an opportunity to exercise while you are waiting. Anyone can feel free to exercise while waiting at the outpatient clinic, wearing any clothes. We aim to be a clinic that can provide specific exercise guidance.
