A New Mechanism to Detect Cancer Early
We are pleased to announce that our clinic now offers miSignal, an innovative cancer screening test that uses a simple urine sample to check for multiple types of cancer.
With miSignal, we can screen for the following cancers:
- Esophageal cancer
- Lung cancer
- Breast cancer
- Stomach cancer
- Colon cancer
- Bladder cancer
- Pancreatic cancer
- Kidney cancer
- Ovarian cancer
- Prostate cancer
This test analyzes microRNA—a substance secreted by cancer cells—that can be detected in urine. By using next-generation sequencing and a machine learning model known as a Support Vector Machine, miSignal analyzes patterns to determine the likelihood of cancer.
This advanced method has demonstrated high sensitivity and specificity, even for cancers that traditional tumor markers often fail to detect in early stages. This means the test can accurately judge whether disease is likely (“positive”) or unlikely (“negative”) with remarkable precision.
We will begin offering this screening service starting November 1, 2025.
Sample Handling and Test Flow
Our clinical laboratory staff manage all samples with care, storing them under temperature control in dedicated refrigerators before sending them to the testing center.
Results are typically available within 6 weeks, after which we will provide a detailed explanation during an in-person follow-up visit. If your risk level is high, we will discuss next steps including referrals to advanced care facilities as needed.
If you are interested in taking this test, please speak with our staff during your visit or contact us by phone.
Please note: We do not send results directly to your home. This is to prevent missed follow-ups and ensure proper understanding of the results, especially in cases where patients may seek care elsewhere.
